The popular suspension footbridge at Parc de la Gorge de Coaticook<\/em> becomes nature’s technological messenger!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Coaticook, June 15th<\/sup>, 2021<\/strong> – Tonight, as soon as night falls, Parc de la Gorge de Coaticook<\/em> will illuminate its famous iconic structure, the longest suspension footbridge in North America. Equipped with new technologies, it will react according to weather variations.<\/p>\n

\u201cUpon the creation of this project, we wished to bring a highlight towards the bridge in a unique way. We wanted an annual, lively, adaptive, immersive and innovative attraction that would expose nature and the way it communicates with us.\u201d announces Caroline Sage, director of the Parc de la Gorge de Coaticook.<\/em><\/p>\n

The mandate was assigned to the company Cadabra for whom \u201cstories are at the heart of experiences and creations; in this same perspective we have developed this unique concept for the suspension footbridge of Parc de la Gorge de Coaticook<\/em>. We wanted to let the environment express itself, as we notice here nature coordinates the illumination of the bridge throughout the year\u201d adds Garou Blancan, Designer and project manager at Cadabra.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe many light movements which embellish the structure were conceptualized in order to react to the different weather conditions of this region. The light will interpret the humidity level, wind speed, wind direction, temperature, and bad weather by drawing and animating dynamic and colorful outlines. The luminous canvas will thus adapt to the seasons in order to create a living and unique digital work of art through each visit. Obviously, it was also important to leave room for certain surprises during special events or special weather conditions within the year such as strong rains, heavy winds or snow, offering visitors splendid and privileged moments\u201d emphasizes Mr. Blancan.<\/p>\n

This magic touch required a total investment of $ 300,000 including an amount of $ 45,000 offered by the City of Coaticook. “Our collaboration with the City ensures a unique local proposition that will create interesting economic conclusions which in turn will allow us to set up other projects,” said Fran\u00e7ois Lajeunesse, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Parc de la Gorge de Coaticook<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe bridge is a strong emblem for the City of Coaticook. This is the main reason why we immediately collaborated on this project. This variation of animations and colors will be a constant exhibition for our residents and will also be an interesting attraction to outsiders\u201d adds Simon Madore, Mayor of the City of Coaticook.<\/p>\n

Parc de la Gorge de Coaticook<\/em> is a non-profit organization welcoming more than 300,000 visitors annually. Being a major tourist player in the Eastern Townships region, it offers its customers outdoor activities within all seasons: Foresta Lumina, summer and winter hiking, camping, mountain and snow biking., farmhouse and other winter products.<\/strong><\/p>\n
