Parc de la Gorge de Coaticook is launching its brand-new summer disc golf course!
PRESS RELEASE
Immediate release
Coaticook, June 20th, 2024 – The 2024 summer season looks promising with the long-awaited inauguration of disc golf at Parc de la Gorge de Coaticook. In addition to the winter course, unveiled last February, there are 18 baskets available today.
But what is disc golf? This captivating activity that skillfully combines the precision of traditional golf with the dynamism of frisbee. Accessible to all skill levels, disc golf invites participants to throw flying discs toward metal baskets placed along an outdoor course, with the goal of completing the course using as few throws as possible, while still enjoying outdoor experience.
“We received the suggestion several times to integrate disc golf into the park within our summer report last year and we wanted to offer something new to our visitors. Disc golf was the perfect answer. This last one clearly passed with our team because this sport is suitable for everyone! With friends, family, outdoor enthusiasts, it’s a discovery worth making! » mentions Caroline Sage, general director of Parc de la Gorge de Coaticook and Parc Découverte Nature!
The summer and winter courses were designed by Julien Quenneville, professional disc golf player and renowned as one of the best in the province. His numerous trips to Canada and the United States have allowed him to develop unparalleled expertise in course design. “Parc de la gorge de Coaticook’s course is brilliant “. We had a perfect playground to develop something unique that will attract the curious, but also the enthusiasts and athletes of this sport. You will definitely come across me this summer. » adds Julien Quenneville.
The starting point of disc golf is accessible at the campsite reception of Parc de la Gorge de Coaticook (400, St-Marc Street, Coaticook). Access to hiking trails is required and disc rental is available on site.
