Foresta Lumina, live magic from senior residences!
Coaticook, January 29th, 2020 – Foresta Lumina at Parc de la Gorge de Coaticook has been an indispensable activity since its creation in 2014. The illuminated night course has since attracted more than 735,000 visitors. It was in 2019 that the idea of a project specially adapted for seniors in the Coaticook region became obvious.
The Park has an important social mission including the one of making the infrastructure available to the entire population, including the magic of Foresta Lumina.
It is through this initiative that the project was born to bring this enchantment to life directly with our seniors. By partnering with the city of Coaticook and Moment Factory, the idea came to life. “Each year, we analyze the comments of visitors and residents of the region. Among these, we had the request to offer Foresta Lumina to our citizens who cannot live the experience on our trails including surrounding seniors and people with reduced mobilities. We needed to sit down and think about the best way to proceed, “said Caroline Sage, director of Parc de la Gorge in Coaticook.
After some thought, the idea of making a short movie that we could present outside Parc de la Gorge de Coaticook quickly became a reality. “The project was exciting and being able to offer this magic at home was well appreciated! Foresta Lumina was the first illuminated night course and also the first to be presented in a movie format. We are extremely proud of what is happening today “added Simon Madore, Mayor of Coaticook City.
Foresta Lumina will be presented under this concept in other local senior homes within the upcoming weeks as well as at the Pavilion des Arts et de la Culture de Coaticook.
